UCSB Club Sports Roundup, 1996 February 1

It was a successful weekend for UC Santa Barbara's Sport Clubs, highlighted by the Rugby team's 55-0 domination of Arizona State. The Gaucho ruggers, now 4-0 and ranked third in the nation, will host Long Beach State this Saturday, 1pm at Storke Field.

Also in action was the Snow Ski team, who competed in a field of 15 squads at Mammoth Mountain. After Saturday's Slalom event was cancelled due to bad weather, Sunday's Giant Slalom saw UCSB's men place third, fifth and eleventh out of 140, while the women fared even better, with Nicole Kelber finishing first, and other Gauchos coming in third and fifth out of 100 women. UC Santa Barbara's Skiers, currently leading the Southern California League, have the weekend off, but will return to Mammoth on February tenth.

UCSB's men's lacrosse, 13-3 winners over Cal Poly last Wednesday, will host a 1pm match with Sonoma State this Saturday at the Lacrosse Pit. The Women's lacrosse team gets started Saturday with a players clinic at Loyola Marymount University.

Also taking to the road this weekend are the UCSB Men's Ultimate Frisbee team, who travel to Tempe for the Arizona Invitational, the Bowling team, who'll spend the weekend in Pinole Valley for the California Invitational Bowling Conference Tourney, and the UCSB Sailing team, who are in San Diego for the South Division Regatta.
