I’m working at Electric Cloud on a product that saves developer time by distributing software builds among many machines. I got married to my longtime sweetheart Mara and added her last name to my own, so I’m now Max Rible Kaehn.

I’ve worked in a variety of software development environments; take a look at some of my thoughts and bookmarks regarding software engineering. If you’re interested in science fiction, fantasy, role-playing games, music (electronic and otherwise), Maine Coon cats, Japanese anime, amateur thaumaturgy, aikido, anachronistic fashion and dancing, or surrealistic conversation and general weirdness, drop by... In addition to my in-print habits of reading The Economist, Scientific American [with daily news], the Fortean Times [with breaking news and Wired for Weird], and the San Francisco Chronicle, I also keep up on the Web with Slashdot, New Scientist and Salon.com Politics. I also read a number of comics on the Web, including Dilbert, Dr. Fun, Red Meat, Sluggy Freelance, Journey to the West, Nine Lives, Many Masters, Liberty Meadows, A Miracle of Science, Ozy and Millie, I Drew This, Schlock Mercenary, and Sinfest; I also use it to keep tabs on Farley, Bizarro, the Boondocks, and Doonesbury in case I miss them in the paper, and to reminisce about Calvin and Hobbes.
